In addition, the same company offers Quad Bike Tours around Cape Kidnappers with exclusive views and access to the serenity of the Cape.

Dinosaur Discovery Centre at the National Aquarium
An exhibition featuring a rare collection of New Zealand dinosaur bones and fossils opened in Napier this summer. A dedicated dinosaur display has been built inside the National Aquarium of New Zealand on Napier’s Marine Parade. It provides a unique viewing of material from Joan Wiffen, who discovered New Zealand’s first dinosaur bone in 1975 while searching for fossils in the Mangahouanga Stream in Hawke’s Bay. Much of the material had previously been stored or displayed at the Hawke’s Bay Museum but went on offer to make space for other museum exhibits.
It was widely believed that no dinosaurs had lived in New Zealand until Joan Wiffen’s discoveries. The historic finds, along with the story of Joan Wiffen’s expeditions and dinosaur knowledge, provide an international attraction and a valued educational experience.

Waimarama Maori Tourism's New 'Arch of Ancestors' Tour
Discover the rich traditions and history of the Maori people on this genuine cultural and heritage tour held on 20 hectares of sacred ancestral lands which have been set aside as a conservation reserve. Your tour guides are knowledgeable local Maori who will graciously share their rich and colourful heritage and welcome your questions. The tour begins in Waimarama where you will be met and taken to the ‘sacred lands reserve’ and the native plant nursery which has been established to conserve and restore native forests and revive traditional medicinal and food sources. You will be greeted in a manner in keeping with the spirituality of the Sacred Area, and as you approach the Arch of the Ancestors you will be in the shadow of the imposing hill fortress of Te Hakikino which for hundreds of years served to protect the local people, and repel the enemy. There is a natural wetland and you will have a chance to see New Zealand eels in their natural habitat. If you’re lucky, it will be feeding time, and you can see them come up onto the jetty. One species is only found in the North Island of New Zealand.
You will learn of the ancient people and see how they lived and what they did to survive in the area. You will see demonstrations of various traditional activities that are still practiced today as they were in days gone by. Enjoy the awe-inspiring scenery, as you come to see the area through the eyes of these descendants as they share stories of battles lost and won, of heroes, and of defeat.
There are archaeological sites you can visit and your guide will provide you with a rich tapestry of stories that brings it all back to life.
(The on-site tour is approximately two hours but this can be tailored to suit your time requirements and transport to and from Waimarama may be arranged on request)
